It is much better than any "particle board" style book shelf I've ever owned. Definitely a piece of furniture that can be displayed any where in the house and will last for years to come.

(More customer reviews)This is a real nice bookcase and great value for the price! It is very sturdy and great for someone who doesn't have alot of space and/or needs a good amount of shelf height. The shelf height is very roomy as I can fit binders on every shelf. Each piece of the bookshelf is quite heavy (lending to the quality), but it was very easy to assemble. I even received a compliment on how nice it is in both quality and appearance!

(More customer reviews)These shelves are a clever idea - books appear to be floating on your wall. As one can see from the picture on this product page, the back cover of the bottom book fits into a small groove. With other books placed on top, the bottom book is held securely in place. I installed several of these shelves in my kitchen for cookbooks. They work best for relatively light, narrow books (the shelf started to strain a bit under "The Joy of Cooking"). However, only the bottom book needs to be hard back.
Installation was extremely easy -- just screw the shelf into any wall normal wall (e.g., drywall, paneling). No anchors are needed. I was a bit skeptical at first and expected for the books to fall or the shelf to bend, but no accidents after over a week. All in all, these shelves work well and are an interesting way to display your books. I just think that they should be a bit less expensive, as they're basically metal brackets; hence the four stars.

Montego 4 shelf Bookcase Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this piece directly from Home Decorators website a couple of weeks ago. It was delivered on time and well packaged, but there the positives ended.
This bookcase was made in Thailand, and the quality is just atrocious. The pre-drilled holes rarely lined up, the finish was one of the worst I've seen (I will have to take it out to the garage, sand it down good and paint it), but to make matters even worse, one of the side pieces was cracked and glued back together...I found that out while trying to get the wooden plugs in to cover the screws.
So for $79, I got a bookcase that is going to need all kinds of work and is going to look awful until I can get to it. Frankly, I'm not sure if it's even worth the effort. Honestly, a similar bookcase that I bought for $50 bucks from Big Lots several years ago was a much better piece.
Considering what I got from Home Decorators, I won't be shopping there again.
(I see now why this product is rated so highly on the Home Decorator's website. I left a very negative review for it in early February, and it was never posted. After the company contacted me by phone, they offered a substantial credit for this item. I appreciated that, however, I ended up contacting them AGAIN a few weeks later because the credit was never made. Nearly 8 weeks after my initial complaint, the credit was finally made.)

Mantel Top For Folding/stacking Bookcase Review

(More customer reviews)Although I ordered the correct size, this piece was off by a couple of milimeters. It did not fit on the bookcase much to my disappointment.
It also arrived cracked and with a chip in the wood.
I contacted the sellers who said that I had to return the one I had and place a new order for another one. I asked for either a refund or for them to send me a replacement immediately, neither of which they can do.
It it too much of a pain to face the postoffice and return such a bulky item.
Just beware that this may arrived damaged and it may not fit the bookcase.
