(More customer reviews)We've had this set for about a month and are pretty happy with it. It certainly isn't perfect and it is made of particle board but it seems pretty sturdy. We got it for about $215 for the set which is cheaper than it is now. The drawers under the bed are shallow, small, and only pull out about as much as shown in the photo. The bookcase is smaller than I thought but great for a 3 year old boy - he puts toys he wants to sleep with and sippy cup on it. Note that there is a gap of about an inch or more between the bed and the bottom of the bookcase, so toys and books can fall in there - that's the biggest negative of this set, IMO. The drawers and shelves do not hold a lot of weight but, again, are sufficient for a little kid. Unless your mattress is on the thin side, the mattress is not far below the lower shelf. There is a pretty strong chemical smell from the particle board so you may want to let it air out for a couple of days after assembly before using it. I lay down with my son sometimes and it seems plenty sturdy. It is pretty low to the ground which is nice for a little kid. Even with the negatives listed, I give it four stars because it fits our needs and we got it for a good price.
