Enclume PR8C Premier Bookshelf Wall Pot Rack with Shelf, Hammered Steel Review

This pot rack is everything I hoped for, and more. I just downsized from a house with a large country kitchen to a modern condo with 1/3 the space, and nowhere to store my heavy-duty cookware. This very sturdy rack allows me to hang all my pots and pans on the wall, plus display the antique tins I was going to have to get rid of. It's very heavy (35lbs), and was a real challenge for my husband to hang. But well worth the effort! Our suggestion: get help to hang it (to support the weight)--and make sure your studfinder works!

Professional chefs know that well-planned kitchens require immediate, unencumbered access to cooking essentials in order to function properly. Constructed of rugged hammered steel, this handsome wall-mount bookshelf doubles as a handy pot rack, creating a sleek, distinguished way to display cooking aids with style and convenience. Even more, the unit's 3-inch-deep accessory shelf rises above the main grid and offers space for spices, utensils, cooking oils, and more, keeping them close at hand while preparing meals for family and guests. In addition to the grid, the bookshelf includes 18 angled pot hooks that firmly grip--and graciously showcase--a variety of hard-anodized and cast-iron cookware. Plus, its exclusive toggler anchors install directly into drywall and support hundreds of pounds, eliminating the hassle of searching for joists or studs while mounting. A sophisticated supplement to cupboard and drawer space, the kitchen bookshelf mounts on 32-inch centers and measures 13 by 36 by 17 inches.

Rogar Hammered Steel with Chrome Bookshelf Pot Rack Review

Rogar Hammered Steel with Chrome Bookshelf Pot Rack

As you can see by the other reviews, this is a great pot rack. However I have some very useful information if you want to purchase it. The rack was well designed and the mounts were spaced properly so that you screw the pot rack directly into the studs.
There is a major flaw...the screws that they provide are only 1 1/4 inches long. My kitchen has 3/4 inches of plaster before you hit a stud and the rack is about an 1/8 of an inch wide. That means the screws only bite into the stud a total of 3/8 of an inch. The result...during installation the pot rack ripped itself out of the wall. So I found a better way to mount it.
My solution cost an extra $1.77. I went to Home Depot and I bought five 1/4 by 2 inch lag screws and five 1/4 inch washers. I had previously measured and marked the three mounts on the main unit prior to installation. I then predrilled the holes with a 3/16 inch drill bit. Predrilling is very important, you don't want to split the stud when putting the lag screws in. And of course check your measurements so you don't miss the studs or put in any extra holes in your wall.
Next put the washers on the lag screws and use a ratchet to screw them in place. Once the main portion of the rack was in place I installed the 2 supports, predrilled each hole, and installed the remaining lag screws.
This pot rack is easily 10 times stronger than it would have been with the original hardware. I would hang cast iron cookware off of it without hesitation. It looks great in the kitchen and is ultra stable. I highly recommend the pot rack so long as you replace the original mounting hardware.

Old Dutch International Antique Pewter Bookshelf and Pot Rack Review

Old Dutch International Antique Pewter Bookshelf and Pot Rack

I was excited when I saw this particular pot rack becuase I needed something to match the rest of the pewter and brushed nickel finishes in my kitchen. The description clearly says "antique pewter finish" and it claimed to have "8 movable hooks." When it arrived, though, the box said "faux pewter finish" because it was simply a steel unit spray painted gray.
The image shown of the item isn't very accurate because it gives the impression that the hooks can be placed anywhere on the supporting grid that makes up the bookshelf (it also shows 10 hooks, not 8). Actually, the hooks can only be placed around the edges of the rack because the steel grid pieces are too wide for the top of each hook to go around them and still hang vertically. Because all of the hooks hang along the edge and all of my Calphalon cookware hangs facing out by design, the effect is a "wall" of pots and pans hanging parallel to the wall and out into the room like ornaments on a tree.
I suppose I could have used some welding gear to heat the small end of the hooks up to a point where I could have made them wide enough to hang anywhere on the rack, but c'mon. Also, if you've got any hope of this moutning flush and cleanly to a wall without shims, stop now before you feel the urge to pound a hammer into something delicate.
Keep looking, folks.

Under Cabinet Lighting 21 LED - 3 Panel Deluxe Kit, Warm White, dimmer option Review

Under Cabinet Lighting 21 LED - 3 Panel Deluxe Kit, Warm White, dimmer option

We had recently remodeled our kitchen and wanted to add some under cabinet lighting. I wanted something low profile so it wouldn't show and low power so we could use it a lot without running up the power bill. Cost of course was an issue.
I found these and was a little skeptical so I only ordered the 3 panel kit. When they arrived, I was amazed at just how low profile they were. Basically they are surface mount LEDs on a circuit board - nothing fancy but that doesn't matter since they won't be seen. I plugged one in to the transformer and was pleased with the light color (warm white) and brightness.
Installation was pretty easy. The strips are mounted to the underside of the cabinet with double-sided tape. Same with the switch and cable clips. I didn't end up using the screws at all. I drilled a few holes to run the cables and the result is totally unseen undercabinet lighting.
Everyone who's seen this has been impressed. I ended up ordering a couple more strips to cover more area. My wife and I are very happy with these lights.
