We bought two of these bookcases.
My first complaint is that 3 of the pieces came out of the box with minor consmetic damage, and a 4th piece came out with significant damage.
My second complaint is about the way the construction is done. The pieces are assembled in this order:
Side
Top
Middle Shelf
Bottom
Other Side
Moulding
Back
The problem is that because of the moulding, the top and back pieces are deeper than the shelves and sides so when the piece is flipped over to install the back, even with the moulding not yet installed, the piece is resting precariously on these two little lips, putting a lot of pressure on them. On a smaller unit that might not be problematic, but this piece weighs 91 pounds and I could see that the structure was struggling under the weight when resting to attach the back. So, I'm too happy with the fact that the structural integrity has to be compromised to even assemble the thing. The back is also very flimsy and is not proportionate to the substantial nature of the rest of the piece. I expect a flimsy back from a $20 bookcase, but not a $120 one.
Additionally, the top moulding has 3 quarter sized holes in its bottom lip through which the screws go up through and in to the top piece. As this book case is 6' tall and most people are shorter than that, the holes are very visible and unsightly.
I suppose that given the price, this is a good option for a book case this size, and once assembled it does feel pretty sturdy, but I was disappointed with the amount of flaws it already has before we've even begun to use it.
