If what I paid for was just doors it was a rip off, they were not worth $85, especially when I was able to find a bookshelf that was much better for the same price. I was very disappointed in what I got. I am rethinking ever using Amazon.com again to make a purchase.

Sonoma Contemporary Oak Finish 6-Shelf Bookcase Review

(More customer reviews)This is probably one of the lowest quality pieces of furniture I have ever seen. I don't know where to begin. First the advertisement states Sonoma Oak 77 inch bookcase. The only component actually made of oak with this bookcase is the front kicker panel on the lowest part of the bookcase. Everything else is made of wood composite, and cheap wood composite at that as it flakes off easily. The directions are very confusing with graphical images that cause you to spend hours trying to figure out which part goes which way with what components, etc. Assembly components such as dowels, screws, and cams were missing. I spent over 20 minutes on the company's phone trying to attempt to order extra parts to no avail. The directions themselves are deceiving stating parts such as wood dowels when in actuality they are easily breakable plastic dowels (do we see a cost cutting emphasis here yet?!). Save your time and money. Don't buy this product.

Carson 5-Shelf Bookcase - Cherry Review

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased three of these bookcases in the cherry finish. For the price, these are the most attractive bookcases I've seen. The clean lines have a simple, elegant, de-cluttered look, without being too plain. The legs at the bottom are a very nice touch. They seem to be good quality.
All the parts were there - no missing pieces. There were even a few extra small parts included.
The instructions are very thorough and clear, in English, with both written instructions and pictures showing each step. Most of the parts are put together with locking cam bolts, so once you figure out how to put the cam locks together, you will just breeze through the rest of the installation.
The hardest part was attaching the back panel to the case. The instructions say to screw it in place instead of the small nails I usually see used. This probably makes it more sturdy, but it does take time if you don't have a cordless screwdriver.
But my favorite part of this product was the divided packaging of the small parts. The small parts came in their own separate packages - "Open this for step 1, this for step 2, etc." That was WONDERFUL because I had everything I needed for each step, without having to sort and count out all the parts. What a time saver! And I knew that I needed to use every part before I went on to the next step.
I would advise attaching these bookcases to the wall if possible. They do seem to sway front and back more than my other shelves - maybe because of the decorative legs at the bottom. They will be safer attached to the wall. And I also glued mine together as I was assembling each piece - for added strength.
I think it took me about two hours to put each bookcase together. Not bad for someone who doesn't do this very often. If you like the look of these bookshelves, then give them a try. The price is good, the quality is good, and the assembly is fairly easy as well.

(More customer reviews)I got this item on sale with free shipping, so I only paid about $120. This bookshelf is great quality and looks good in my living room. It doesn't look cheap like some of the other bookshelves I've seen in this price range. The only flaw is that the directions have no writing, so if you're good with pictures and arrows you should be okay, but if you rely on written directions it can be a bit confusing to follow. Fortunately I got it right on the first try and it went together quickly and easily once I figured out what I was doing.

The screw housings were cheap. First one I screwed in broke. Then the second. The hardware reminded me of those flimsy pop-tops on old aluminum cans.
Buyer beware. I should have known something was amiss when one of the items included in the set-up was wood glue. I've put together similar products from IKEA and Target. They never required wood glue. Stay far away from this one...

(More customer reviews)The instructions are rather hard to follow. If you make a mistake, it won't forgive you. You'll end up with a bookshelf full of holes. The center is not safe and easy to separate. I'm about to have a kid and I wouldn't feel comfortable having my baby around it. I just bought this bookshelf and I'm already throwing it away. Seriously, don't get fool by the price. It's better to spend a little more money, but having the confidence its safe and easy to assemble and disassemble. Invest on peace of mind.

The price with free shipping from amazon how can it be too expensive? This is my second shelf from south shore, i bought the 3 shelf one a while back. The packaging is solid and the design does pay attention to details like thick front panels top and bottom and black caps to seal off visable screw holes makes it look more elegant.
Oh almost forgot, my 3 tier shelf did started sagging just a tad bit with only heavier books, but not a big deal since the shelves are meant to work on both sides i just flipped it over and it'll straight itself out! i didn't expect real wood at this price.
