From South Shore Furniture's Gascony Collection, this beautiful hutch is designed for use with the separately purchased Gascony desk and proffers clearance for up to 21-inch computer monitors. Profiled molding adorns the top perimeter, while a vertical wood panel effect adds further sophistication to this companion piece. Both of the upper corners of the hutch contain a square storage compartment with a crystal clear glass door with a prolific frame. Each door opens with a gentle tug to the brass-finished metal handle on the bottom panel of the frame. The glass door panes allow the user to quickly identify and display the compartments' contents, whether they hold books or computer accessories. The doors also serve to protect contents from dust. Set against the hutch's back board, a book shelf stretches between the two squares, with a molded arch under its ledge for flourish. Two additional small rounded shelves rest directly below the square storage areas. The petite size and limited overhead of these units endear them to mini staplers, hole punchers, pencil sharpeners, or collectible miniatures. The Environmentally Preferred Product (EPP) certified hutch is crafted out of engineered wood and recycled fiber, with a luscious regal cherry finish. The two end panels lie flush on a desk or floor surface to support the unit. Approximately an inch elevates the back panel to enable computer cable passage when the hutch is employed with a desk. To clean, wipe with a damp cloth and avoid ammonia-based cleaning products which cause damage to the finish. In addition to the desk, a matching bookcase also is available for separate purchase. The hutch requires home assembly. Upon online registration, a limited five-year warranty covers this item. The assembled hutch measures 49 inches wide by 13 inches deep by 36 inches high.

(More customer reviews)We bought this bed for my 3 year old son. It is his first "big boy bed" after using a crib, then converting that to a toddler bed. It comes in a BIG and HEAVY box. Let me stress it is VERY heavy! Packed very well also. The UPS delivery man could barley carry it. He slid it into the house and it stayed there until my husband could tackle opening it and assembly. Easy assembly. It took him an hour in a half with distractions. Decent directions. He move it into the bedroom w/o the drawers. Bed looks nice once put together. Does not creek when I lay on it too. The drawers are a bit tough to open and close. I rubbed bar soap on the tracks and this helped. Sits low to the ground with just one top mattress. We still opted to use a bed rail. Also purchased matching headboard and night stand. The bed is the only thing assembled right now. We are using a 9 inch memory foam mattress no box spring. It seems pretty firm, which is fine for a little guy. But I am thinking a box spring also may improve this. Make sure you buy a bed rail that specifies it can be used with "platform beds" it works/fits terrific. We bought this from amazon also - Dex Products Universal Safe Sleeper Bed Rail. You can view the costumer pic of it on a captains bed. So far very happy!!

(More customer reviews)OK, I admit Amazon has taught me to expect fast delivery, so I'm bound to be incredulous when a vendor takes Two Weeks to ship.
So I practice my patience skills, am really happy when it arrives but lo and behold - pieces are broken! Not bent or scratched, but broken...as in snapped in half where the dowel holes are.
I contacted South Shores via email, specified the part required, they asked for more info, I gave them all the codes and part numbers they need, get told to wait for a confirmation and then guess what - nothing, no response, nada. I followed up and what do you know, no record I'd ever exchanged emails with them. So I had to give them all the details again - and - wait for it - it will take another Two Weeks to ship the replacements. I asked them if they could expedite and the girl reluctantly said she'd make it a 'priority' order so it will get shipped out 'sometime this week' rather than waiting the 'standard 10 days' before being 'processed'. What is that about?
I have a gnawing fear that when the replacements come they will be a) broken and b) entirely wrong...that is how underwhelmed I am by this supplier's customer service. Hopeless. Awful. Dreadful. Terrible.
Buy almost any other bed than this one. Seriously. Run for the hills.

It looked good at first glance, but then we noticed the not-quite-flush seams and the various scrapes, dits, and dings on the surface. Claimed to hold 200+ lb per shelf, but shelves looked bowed after about 15 reams of copy paper. Doors stuck together and were difficult to open and close. We had it for less than a day before knowing that it had to go. It cost much less than the brand we ended up getting, but the frustration was simply not worth the added frustration.

When we peeled it out of its cardboard shell, we realized that several of the weight-bearing boards were splintered in half! We called Amazon customer service only to be told that they would not accept photographic proof of the damaged item, but that we had to go out and find and buy a box big enough to hold this damaged item and then return it. I cannot lift this on my own. The pieces that were not broken are longer than I am tall. Where on Earth am I going to find a box that will fit this?
Tawny C. at Amazon.com customer service doesn't care. She was very smug and unforgiving about the broken bed and sounded highly pleased with herself when I told her that there would be no boxes big enough to hold this item. She happily told me that I could not have the item replaced or refunded, and that I was simply out the $163 that I spent on a broken piece of junk.

Fortunatly the breaks are on the inside of the bed so they can't be seen, but it does weaken the frame. One more thing is to make sure you have a thin matress to go on the top as the head and foot boards are rather low.

My only complaint is that it does not attach to the bed. I guess we could manage something, but nothing was there to actually attach the bed frame to the headboard. Worth the money!

I realized after moving the bed 4 times its best to have an idea of where to place it. It is huge and heavy without the drawers or mattress. All in all my 4yr old loves it and its blue. The color brings so much life to the room. Try to be home when the HEAVY bed is delivered in an ackwardly shaped box. The UPS guy had a hard time carrying the box. This item is deserving of a giftcard for the driver.
