(More customer reviews)My son has a variety of toys, and this organizer helps me to keep everything separate. I keep alphabets blocks in one bin, soft toys in another, puppets in a third, and so on. So it is very easy for me to grab a new set of toys for my son to play with when he needs a new rotation!
You can't tell from the picture, but the cross bars are actually metal. I was pleased to note that when I assembled the piece. As many kids will try to climb into or on top of this unit, it is good to see construction that may stand up to that kind of abuse. I was anticipating wooden dowel rods, which would snap much more easily. So the quality of materials is good. And it was a snap to assemble.
I'm a fan of this piece and am very glad that I purchased it.

It holds all the toys that the parents "leave at Nana's House"...namely those that we as grandparents purchase to get back at our children for everything they put us through, yup the Noise makers! Dang but that backfired didn't it?? I love the drawers underneath, they hold markers, legos, coloring books, all that little stuff that usually gets lost at the bottom of such big toyboxes! Love this toybox, so do my kids, they want it at their houses!

(More customer reviews)We received this toy box as a gift for our son when he was 1. I love the fact that it also has the book shelf and top shelf as well as the door feature to "hide" the toys. When our son was younger we would pick up his toys and close up playtime for the day - he knew it was almost bedtime when we would put the lid down. The book shelf has not held books yet as they pull them right down but we do store some of the more played with stuffed animals on these shelves. They sit in perfectly and are easy to find for our children. The opening for the toy box is low enough for our toddlers to get their own toys in and out. We have had this toybox for almost 2 years now and it still looks brand new. It has only been inside and the color has not faded. My 2 & 3 yr old have climb onto, banged into, thrown toys at, and much more and shows no wear & tear. A little bit pricier than the regular toy box but worth it for the extra features of shelves and closing lid that does not shut unless pulled shut by someone. No pinched fingers or trapping with this one! Another great buy/product from Step2

(More customer reviews)Although this Little Tikes product is well constructed and tough, there is one major drawback that is so aggravating that it negates any positive attributes. In order to get into the toybox, because of the way it is constructed, you have to take the lid completely off the box. Because of it's "dome-like" shaped lid, you cannot lift it up with one hand to retrieve a toy with the other. If you do, the lid completely falls off, or turns upside down, obscuring the opening of the toybox. So, every time this toybox is opened, the lid must be completely removed and set aside. It's very user "unfriendly" to an adult, so I can imagine how difficult it will be for my young daughter to use as she grows up.

Just peel & stick, and it only took 2 minutes to put together! It's also a true espresso color, which is what I wanted. There are 4 large stainless steel bolts that are visible on each side of the bookshelf which are not aesthetically pleasing. I purchased 3 these bookshelves to line a wall so am keeping them, but would have returned them if they stood alone and the side of the bookcase was visible.

Different stores seem to carry different colors and you can really make a difference in your kids clutter. The drawers fit neatly into the organizer cabinets by closetmaid and we labeled the drawers with the type of item in the box for our kids. We used pictures of the items: Fashion Dolls, Dress-up, Doll Dishes, Baby Dolls, etc. We laminated cards with the pics and tied them right on the handles with ribbon. Now, the kids can take out the drawer, carry it to where they are playing and then pick up and put it right back when they are done. The drawers are fairly sturdy and they fold flat when you want to store them. Their room looks great, and I am envisioning many more places for the organizers to go...

(More customer reviews)I have had sets of these wire bins by Neu Home for over 15 years. You can take them apart, place elsewhere, stack higher, they are extremely versatile & also VERY strong. I have bins on top of these that hold 30 pounds of items that I use every day in my business. The cubes don't shake, bend or show any signs of use. They have really been put to the test of time & abuse by me & I love them. I actually bought them as an inexpensive form of table but I also use the bins for bookcases & my cats like to sleep in them. I'm back on Amazon buying some more to use as my business expands. I highly recommend these. They probably would be great for college dorms, your child's storage needs, kitchen clutter cleanup (where to put the blender, the waffle maker, the juicer when not in use) etc. They are very easy to put together & take apart & lie flat when stored.

I found Honey Can Dos phone #(708-240-8100) and called. They will actually replace individual bins for free if it is due to a manufacturer's defect. Otherwise, you can still purchase them individually for 4.99 and 5.99 (little/big; price as of 2/2011).

ClosetMaid 9-Cube Organizer Review

(More customer reviews)After hauling several boxes of books around the country during my post-college nomadic phase, I finally decided to unpack them. I had some space for a bookcase, but not the money for anything fancy. I found this unit at my local SuperTarget and decided to give it a try. I give it 5 stars for the following reasons:
- It looks nice. It's not fancy or beautiful, but it has a clean, quiet look. I chose not to attach the backing material (flimsy, as expected with this type of unit). Up against a white wall, it blends in nicely.
- It was quite easy to assemble. I did it myself with a power screwdriver. The whole project took about 35 minutes. The parts in my kit were not labeled, but it's not hard to figure out what goes where.
- I love that the shelves are divided into "cubes." The dividers provide lots of support for my heavy old textbooks. Lesser shelves or those without support would certainly sag.
- The units are compatible with others in the Cubicals line. They can be stacked/arranged to form whatever kind of system you want. I'm considering getting another piece to stack on top. The assembly materials include extra dowels for this purpose. Also, you can get drawer/baskets to slide into the cubes, or doors to turn them into cabinets.
- In addition to the extra dowels for stacking more units on top, the hardware packet includes a wall anchor, to keep the unit from tipping/falling on top of kids who climb up the front like a ladder.
All in all, a very functional solution to my book problem.

The rounded edges and lack of screws/nails required in the assembly (the 8 shelves slot together in a particular order - you will need to follow the instructions!)are perfect for this purpose - it is a sensible design for a house full of kids who don't look where they are going! However, I must say, until it is filled with heavy books and toys, it is quite wobbly. This is probably just a product of the design and I would be surprised if it fell without severe shaking but this feature would not make it appropriate for display of fragile ornaments/the odd book.
