ClosetMaid 9-Cube Organizer Review

(More customer reviews)After hauling several boxes of books around the country during my post-college nomadic phase, I finally decided to unpack them. I had some space for a bookcase, but not the money for anything fancy. I found this unit at my local SuperTarget and decided to give it a try. I give it 5 stars for the following reasons:
- It looks nice. It's not fancy or beautiful, but it has a clean, quiet look. I chose not to attach the backing material (flimsy, as expected with this type of unit). Up against a white wall, it blends in nicely.
- It was quite easy to assemble. I did it myself with a power screwdriver. The whole project took about 35 minutes. The parts in my kit were not labeled, but it's not hard to figure out what goes where.
- I love that the shelves are divided into "cubes." The dividers provide lots of support for my heavy old textbooks. Lesser shelves or those without support would certainly sag.
- The units are compatible with others in the Cubicals line. They can be stacked/arranged to form whatever kind of system you want. I'm considering getting another piece to stack on top. The assembly materials include extra dowels for this purpose. Also, you can get drawer/baskets to slide into the cubes, or doors to turn them into cabinets.
- In addition to the extra dowels for stacking more units on top, the hardware packet includes a wall anchor, to keep the unit from tipping/falling on top of kids who climb up the front like a ladder.
All in all, a very functional solution to my book problem.

Winsome Verona Storage Bench, Walnut with Black Baskets Review

(More customer reviews)I do like this bench but I found that my entryway space is larger than I expected so this bench looks a little small in it. My own fault for not doing a better job with measurements. The bench arrived quickly (with Prime) and in very good condition. It was very easy to put together and didn't have any problems with the instructions. So far the bench is very sturdy.
I bought this for shoe storage and for a place to sit in order to put the shoes on. I found the black bins to be smaller than expected and my husband cannot easily fit his shoes inside of the bin. I am a size 7 and can fit 1 pair of sneakers, slippers and 2-3 pairs of summer flat sandals (plenty for me). I decided to swap out the black bins for larger baskets I had so now I have 2 longer baskets on the bottom and 2 smaller baskets on the shelf for my son's shoes (small at this point).
Overall, this is a very nice bench for the price.

Ameriwood Metal Frame Computer Desk with Bookcase in Black and Silver Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this desk for my son's room. He's 18, and tall, some of the other portable desks I was looking at were not high enough. However, I did not install the keyboard tray and that seemed to work well. Construction of the desk is pretty good for the price. Lot's of parts, but the instructions were good and it went together very easily. I was worried about the sturdiness as well, but found it was well designed and didn't buckle under weight (he has a old 18" glass screen monitor on it). It was packed well and I recieved it with out incident. All in all, a safe product to purchase on-line.

Prepac Maple 2-shelf Bookcase Review

(More customer reviews)It looks nice and matches my oak floors well (I got the oak, but it is the same book case other than the 1 micron thick veneer). I got the book cases (four of them) because it fits into the space in my office and it looked, from the photos, okay, especially for the money. Given that I didn't pay shipping or taxes, I figured I'd go for it.
This is what the company selling the product does NOT tell you. If they did, they would sell far less product. I know I wouldn't have ordered this book case. 1. The back of the book case is not laminate wood (as advertised) nor is it a board. It is cardboard with a sheet of oak looking paper on it. It is both cheap and false advertising. 2. The clips to hold the shelf in place are made of plastic. They need to be changed to brass so that the shelf does not collapse from the weight of the books. That's an additional expense, albeit minor, but it also means a trip to Home Depot or your local hardware store.
At least now you can make an informed decision. Zero stars for the fallacious advertising, cheap backing, and plastic clips, and three stars for the book case. I am keeping the book cases only because the size is correct for my purposes. We'll see how long it lasts. Fair value for this book case would be about $50. Check Staples, Ikea, Office Depot, etc., before even thinking of buying this book case.

They hire a freight company not delivery company, they basically take it off the truck in front of your house and you have to figure out how to get it inside. It is over 200 pounds,and luckily I happened to have people there to help me. So be prepared, they do not tell you until they get there that they wont bring it inside. It is a great bookcase though, very pleased once it was inside!

(More customer reviews)Make sure you are a handyman with good tools to try to assemble this thing. First off, it comes with huge bolts that need to be applied with a special wrench they supply. You need to be the hulk to screw them in all the way. A handyman with power tools is necessary. Pray they are straight otherwise the wood splits, as did ours. One of the bolts was defective in that the opening that the wrench supplied fits in was not hollowed out so my father in law had to drill out the metal so we could screw it in as the bolts need to be buried in the side of the bookshelf otherwise it looks horrible. In the end, the cheap particle board that supports the whole thing split on the bottom. You cannot see it but I do not know if it will support the books and I anticipate the whole thing will collapse once it is filled and our daughter starts to use it. Don't waste your money.
