(More customer reviews)I bought this bookcase based on a number of very positive reviews at both the T-store and the Wal-store websites. The instructions are simply pictures, no words; but they are very small sketches on a large page. It was hard for me and my son to see the detail of which pieces went in which direction. We finally got it assembled (it took more like 10 minutes than the advertised 3) and stood it up, and it's severely canted forward. We tried various shims and have ended up with two ping-pong paddles underneath it as shims! This is too severe. However, Legare is working with us to find out the problem.
Also, it's called a 59 x 14 x 18 bookcase, but the actual amount of shelf depth is only about 10". So this is not truly useful for what I wanted, which was a shelf inside the front door for handbags, library books, laptops and school backpacks and so on.
Rather than try and return it to Amazon I suppose we will live with it and use it for books in a different room. From now on, no buying furniture sight unseen!!

If what I paid for was just doors it was a rip off, they were not worth $85, especially when I was able to find a bookshelf that was much better for the same price. I was very disappointed in what I got. I am rethinking ever using Amazon.com again to make a purchase.

Steel Bookcase, 6 Shelves, 34-1/2w x 13d x 84h, Putty Review

(More customer reviews)The all-steel bookcase looks nice enough. For something so large and with the potential of holding a great deal, the flat-pack design with assembly and no hardware shouldn't have been selected in my opinion. Although when assembled, the bookcase is not as sturdy as I'd like, it probably is fine. Relatively speaking, I seem to have gotten the bookcase for a steal at $196.18 shipped given the total cost through other merchants. I would not likely buy this again and would instead look for fully-assembled and more rigid options.
The two-piece back should be one solid panel or at least been packed as a hinged, folding panel to be more rigid. The shelves should be secured to the back panels somehow, and they aren't. Installing the top panel on one side kept causing the side panel to slide out of alignment along the entire height of the bookcase. This is due to the tight fit and tab/hole side-back joint design. The side panel slid enough to cause the tabs and holes to separate, and this wasn't easy to correct. Buyers would be best to assemble this on a hard surface instead of carpet. If assembling on carpet, lay the bookcase down, push the bottom flush against a baseboard, and then use the mallet to insert the top. This will help keep the side panels from sliding and separating from the back.

Sonoma 2 Shelf Bookcase In Maple Finish Review

(More customer reviews)Even though the furniture is supposedly deeply discounted, no matter what you pay, you're getting ripped off. The particle board splits, everything is sort of wobbly, the drawers are not very secure, and the assembly instructions are a joke. The best part is, we ordered several pieces for my son's room. We had seven days to return anything we couldn't use. It actually took more than seven days to get the second shipment, so now we are stuck with something from the first shipment we can't use. I emailed the company and explained and was told this was a "buyer's remorse" return, which meant I had to pay shipping to and from my home, plus a 20% restocking fee, which made it more than what I paid. So I'm stuck, even though I don't see how their splitting the order is my fault.
DON'T BUY!!!

(More customer reviews)The wood used is good quality but once assembled it is NOT sturdy at all. We don't have the back panels yet but doubt it will make a big difference. Even though the box was not damaged, one of the shelves was chipped which was very obvious as we ordered the white bookshelf. NOT WORTH THE PRICE! Very disappointed.
The INITIAL delivery was prompt and the driver was nice but we did not get any screws or back panels. The box wasn't damaged so it didn't fall out during delivery, they were just missing. So far, we've called customer service four times. They've been very nice but we've only gotten the screws, no back panel. It's been 20 days since we ordered. Will not order from this company ever again.

Hamilton 5 shelf Bookcase Review

(More customer reviews)When I first looked at these book shelves on-line it looked like a quality item, strong and durable w/eye appeal. This unit was delv'd to me within a reasonable time, however, I didn't realize that it would have to be put together. It took me the good part of one day to assemble. I was half way through and I discovered there were screws that were missing. I called for parts and was told it would take a week to 10 days before I could expect it . In the interim, the shelves were strewn throughout a room and it had to stay until the shipment was delivered.
After finally completeing the assembly, I placed books onto the shelves. After about a week, one of my friends started taking a book off the top shelf and the complete bookcase collapsed. The shelfves fell on him, he was injured.
My wife said to send it back for a refund and to large a complaint, well this is the complaint but the original packing container was discarded.
I followed all directions on construction. Kindly see that I get compensated.

2411-Oak Single 76" Bookcase Media Tower -Venture Horizon Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this media tower from Stacks and Stacks, for about 140 shipped. Definitely one of the more affordable designs to hold a fairly large media collection.
The look of the product is great, as long as you fill it full of DVDs. Leaving this tower empty will expose the cheap-looking backing to any guests. I have read from other reviews on other sites that the shelves bowed under the weight of DVDs, but during assembly, I noticed an optional step to prevent bowing, and it works fine. The shelves are very thin, but for holding up DVDs, I've had no problems so far. Overall the tower is not as sturdy as I'd hoped, but for the purpose of holding DVDs, it's fine. The tower takes up very little room and hugs the wall; it is very compact and to the point.
One small problem though is the side edging strips: they overhang and block the very last DVD on each side, I might just end up putting empty cases on each end to make sure I don't "lose" any of my DVDs.
So, to sum it up:
Pros:
-Fairly affordable for the storage capacity
-Sleek, tall, wall-hugging design takes up very little excess space
-Comes with straps to attach to wall (If you're in an "earthquake zone" as the instructions suggest)
-The black model looks nice, fits almost any decor (not sure how the oak or other finishes would look)
Cons:
-Overall not as sturdy as many would like, though this is not much of a problem if the instructions are followed and shelves are "locked in"
-Side overhangs block off about an inch of shelf space

(More customer reviews)These bookshelves took only minutes to assemble, are sturdy and maintain balance while stacked. No problems with shipping, and the shelves were well packed and undamaged. The shelf-inserts (plastic sheets designed as false "bottoms" to the wire shelves) didn't fit well and there was no was to secure them: this can be remedied by trimming the plastic 1 - 2 inches on two sides so that it drops down into the frame of the shelf. I was pleased with the price and would purchase this product again.

looks pretty hot with the rest of our furniture.
is a little smaller than i imagined, so it fits well into the space i'd thought it might be too big for.
downsides:
didn't get the correct pieces, and had to contact the vendor and that took about 2 weeks, so if i was in a huge hurry, that would've stunk.
took over an hour to set up, which is all sorts of crazy.
quality and cost of item are incongruous.
the way it's designed, it's almost impossible to get at the movies in the very center of any rows.
overall:
i got a touch less than what i expected.
